Thursday, July 1, 2010 All Summer The Palos and Orland regions and all suburbs in between. NOW TAKING NEW MEMBERS - JOIN THE LEAGUE!. New members are welcome to join the League of Women Voters of the Palos-Orland Area. If you are 18 or older and interested in making a difference in this world and in your local region, please join this active group dedicated to Making Democracy Work. Trained League members will be moderating candidate forums this fall and our skilled teams will be providing the public with an excellent opportunity to hear about their candidates for office. We also host meetings with speakers on a variety of interesting current issues. If you are looking for stimulating conversation and life-long friendships, please give us a call. Saturday, July 3, 2010 TBA Line up at the designated spot on Harlem Avenue - spot to be announced. Palos Heights Independence Day Parade. Join the League of Women Voters of the Palos-Orland Area in the Palos Heights Independence Day Parade. We will march down Harlem Avenue and greet onlookers in representing the League and Good Government Practices.
Wednesday, July 28, 2010 11:30am to 1pm Luncheon at the DePaul Club room at DePaul University Center, 11th floor - 1 East Jackson in Chicago. (Corner of State and Jackson - enter through the Barnes and Noble Bookstore to reach the elevators to the 11th floor.) Lunch and Learn with the Cook County League. Another in a series of fundraising luncheons featuring speakers on different aspects of Cook County government. Speakers on July 28th will be William Batts, Chairman of the Board and William Foley, CEO of the COOK COUNTY HEALTH AND HOSPITALS SYSTEM. Reservations are due by Wednesday, July 21st - for more information and to make your reservation, please call Betty Rosenblum at 847-498-0350. COST IS $30 PER PERSON.
